Liam Hagel, TC Energy

Liam Hagel, TC Energy
Liam holds an M.Eng. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Calgary. He started his career as a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Engineer at Schlumberger, then served as an Integrity/Stress Engineer at Stantec, specializing in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on buried pipelines and worked primarily on advanced integrity applications. Currently, he is working as an Integrity Engineer at TC Energy, focusing on pipeline dent analysis.

Mohammad Salem, Stantec

Mohammad Salem, Stantec
Mohammad Salem is a licensed Pipeline Integrity Engineer (P.Eng.) with a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta. With a strong foundation in computational mechanics and engineering software, he has been working with advanced finite element tools such as Abaqus and ANSYS since 2007. Dr. Salem has been actively involved in the oil and gas industry since 2015, specializing in pipeline and piping integrity since 2017. His technical expertise includes performing stress analysis using Abaqus, Bentley AutoPIPE, and CAESAR II, with a focus on ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards. Between 2018 and 2019, he developed custom Fortran subroutines to model crack initiation and propagation in pipelines, contributing to more accurate and predictive integrity assessments. In addition to his engineering analysis capabilities, Dr. Salem has been scripting in Python and MATLAB since 2015, and since 2016, has been developing engineering tools and Abaqus plugins to automate processes and enhance simulation workflows in accordance with regulatory standards. His work combines deep technical knowledge with software development skills, making him a valuable contributor to pipeline integrity and simulation-based engineering design.
