She also worked as an electromagnetic application engineer for CST, presenting and publishing the benefits of EM Simulation for a wide range of industrial and academic areas.

Joe Amodeo

Joe Amodeo
Joe graduated from Cambridge University and gained a PhD from Imperial College before joining Jaguar Cars as an aerodynamicist in 1998. Joe was responsible for the aerodynamic development of a number of Jaguar vehicles, using physical tests methods and CFD and eventually became the Technical Specialist for Aerodynamics at JLR. Joe then joined Exa Corporation in 2005, as their first UK employee, in order to focus exclusively on CFD with the PowerFLOW toolset.
At Exa Joe was heavily involved in the development and deployment of the PowerFLOW toolset for automotive and motorsport across the world. In 2017 Exa was acquired by Dassault Systèmes, as part of their SIMULIA Brand. Joe now manages a team dedicated to delivering automated simulation & optimization process to SIMULIA customers worldwide

Cleopatra Cuciumita

Cleopatra Cuciumita
Dr. Cleopatra Cuciumita has just started a new research project with the Imperial College London, Department of Aeronautics, in machine learning for computational fluid dynamics applications relevant to the industrial environment, in direct collaboration with Rolls-Royce. She is experienced in turbomachinery aerodynamics and multidisciplinary optimisation, including structural and acoustic behaviour. In the last four years, her work focused on designing the next generation of gas turbine fans, characterised by high efficiency, low noise, while maintaining structural integrity by employing different state of the art CFD techniques, optimisation algorithms and stress and noise estimation methods.
She received her Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from University Politechnica of Bucharest, in collaboration with the Von Karman Institute of Fluid Dynamics for developing a method to optimize axial turbines’ aerodynamic efficiency by means of a genetic algorithm and semi-empirical tools. She also worked as a researcher for over 10 years with the Romanian R&D Institute for Gas Turbines and the Technical University of Berlin on improving the performances of existing turbines.

Andy Ibbotson

Andy Ibbotson
Andy graduated from the University of Birmingham, School of Metallurgy and Materials Science in 1990 after completing a four year MEng degree in Materials Science, his PhD research was completed in 1993.
Andy initially worked at the Defence Research Agency (now QinetiQ) before joining Airbus in the Experimental Mechanics group with a concurrent role in the Explicit Dynamic finite element group.
He joined GKN Aerospace and became part of the A380 wing cover static stress analysis team, supporting both first flight and production ramp-up.
In 2005, Andy rejoined Airbus, to become part of the nonlinear structural analysis team. Over the years, Andy has been involved with many challenging simulation campaigns and has had the opportunity to work with external organisations during a number of projects, the most recent of which being the ATi funded Smarter Testing project.

Mark Patterson

Mark Patterson
Graduating from the University of Leeds in 2007 with a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (MEng), Mark joined a small engineering consultancy in Coventry working with linear & non-linear finite element methods. These technologies were applied over a diverse range of applications from sports cars and pianos to ballistic armor and underground trains. During this time, he established a real passion for automation. This continued to grow when joining Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) in June 2010, working in the role of CAE Analyst in the CAE Methods & Projects team. Mark worked within the CAE community developing automation methods and tools and was latterly involved in the early definition of business requirements for the deployment of the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform at JLR.
Since February 2015, Mark has been with Dassault Systems in the position of Senior Solution Consultant. As part of the SIMULIA brand, he works with customers across all industries to help increase their efficiency, robustness and standardisation of both their business and simulation workflows. Leveraging the powerful automation and exploration capabilities of the Process Apps, on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform, has made this possible.
Most recently Mark has been heavily involved with the ATI Funded ‘Smarter Testing’ project with partner, Airbus, on the development of new methods. These include the placement of sensors on geometry and the automated extraction of results at these locations from simulation.
