After finishing his Master of Science in computational engineering in 2022, Sebastian Bahr started as a research assistant at RWTH Aachen University. Specialised in acoustic and dynamic simulations, he is working in the Noise-Vibration-Harshness (NVH) group at the Institute for Machine Elements and Systems Engineering.
Mr. Bahr's research focuses on modelling and simulating the dynamic behaviour of elastomer components and their topology optimisation. His work on computer-aided FE-Simulations of these components requires the experimental determination of non-linear material effects. Based on his experience, Mr. Bahr is developing efficient methods to address and optimise the acoustic transfer behaviour of technical systems.

Paweł Bajerski (member, NAFEMS, SIMULIA Champion 2026) has over 15 years of experience in engineering, research and numerical simulations of electrotechnical products. He currently is the Simulation Specialist and R&D Team Leader of simulations experts at ABB Corporate Technology Center in Poland. He is also a member of NAFEMS organization and holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering. His responsibilities include electrodynamic, seismic, environmental, polymer thermal ageing and plastic processing analyses using finite element methods. Paweł is currently pursuing Ph. D in Mechanical Engineering.

Jan BIERMANN
Jan BIERMANN
Dr.-Ing. Jan Biermann, born in 1977 in northeastern Germany, began his professional path with a vocational training in banking before studying Mechanical Engineering at the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH). As a DAAD scholar, he spent an academic year at the University of Waterloo, Canada, where he was honored as an Academic All Canadian. He completed his diploma in theoretical mechanical engineering at TUHH.
He subsequently pursued a PhD at the Institute for Modeling and Computation at TUHH, specializing in numerical acoustics. During this time, he also worked as a visiting researcher and DAAD scholar at the Department of Mathematics at Virginia Tech (USA), focusing on numerical iterative solvers for large-scale systems of equations. His doctoral thesis addressed efficient numerical procedures for large exterior acoustic problems.
In 2011, Jan joined BMW AG, where he initially became responsible for the acoustics of HVAC systems in complete vehicles. In this role, he introduced several innovative methods, including perception based psychoacoustic target setting, intensity based vibro-acoustic measurement techniques, and aero-acoustic computation based virtual product development. Since 2023, he has been part of BMW’s drivetrain development division, leading method development for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) simulations of electric drive units.
Alongside his engineering career, Jan completed a Master’s degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) at Ludwig Maximilians University Munich in 2022, with a meta philosophical thesis on value theory. Outside of his professional work, sports play a central role in his life. As a former semi professional volleyball player, he remains active as a senior national level beach volleyball competitor.

Peter grew up in Erfurt, Thuringia.
After obtaining a degree in Communication Systems at Siemens and while studying Physics in Regensburg, he became involved in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) through his work as a student trainee at Continental.
In 2011, he began working full time in the field of EMC design and debugging within automotive hardware development, first at Harman in Stuttgart and later at Akkodis EMC in Waiblingen, where he focused on EMC testing.
Since 2017, Peter has been with ZF in Koblenz. From 2018 onward, his work has focused on EMC simulation, where he currently serves as technical lead, driving the development and implementation of digital twins within the EMC simulation domain.

Dr. Frank Demming-Janssen is Managing Director of SIMUSERV GmbH. He holds a degree in Engineering Physics from FH Münster and a Ph.D. from TU Chemnitz.
With more than two decades of experience, he has worked extensively in the application of numerical simulation methods, particularly in RF, microwave, and antenna design using CST Studio Suite. Before joining SIMUSERV, he roles at Dassault Systèmes, supporting customers in Europe and internationally in the use of CST/SIMULIA technologies.

Tom received his PhD from the University of Wisconsin with a research topic of fracture and crack growth in polymers. He is a tire industry veteran known for his leadership in driving advances in modeling, simulation and workflows across a global organization. He joined Endurica in 2022 after a 35-year career at Goodyear. While at Goodyear, he held various technical and leadership positions with experience in both product development and technology development. He was a major contributor to multiple technical partnerships. In 2024, he was instrumental in the creation of Endurica's sister company, Endurica Europe, headquartered in Luxembourg.

Dr. Ibrahim Elabyad earned his Ph.D. from the prestigious University of Heidelberg in 2014. With a career spanning nearly two decades in numerical simulation, the author has established himself as a dedicated expert in Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis. Since earning his engineering degree in 2009, he has focused his professional journey on the practical application of computational mechanics within the service provider sector. Since 2007, he has been deeply immersed in the daily execution of complex FEM projects, utilizing Abaqus as his primary tool to solve intricate structural and mechanical challenges for a diverse range of industrial clients.
His passion for programming emerged from a practical necessity to push software packages beyond their standard out-of-the-box functions. By developing custom solutions, he focuses on making the simulation process significantly more efficient, reliable, and faster. This drive for optimization has led to the creation of specialized Python plugins and web applications that automate repetitive tasks and bridge the gap between traditional engineering and modern software development.

Since 2022, Władysław Hamiga, PhD Eng., has been working as a Technical Simulation Specialist at SOLIDEXPERT, focusing on advanced simulation workflows within the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. In this role, he performs computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and finite element analyses (FEA) for a wide range of industrial applications. His work covers the full simulation process, including geometry preparation, surface modeling, meshing, and post-processing.
He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in aerodynamics. His doctoral research focused on advanced CFD simulations for the analysis of complex flow structures and aerodynamic performance improvement. He also gained hands-on engineering experience as Aerodynamics Team Leader in a Formula Student project, where he led the design and CFD-based optimization of race car components.
By combining strong academic expertise with practical industrial experience, he supports companies in solving complex engineering challenges and improving product development through simulation.

Philipp Hartl is a mechanical engineer and battery cell specialist with experience in the automotive industry and a strong focus on battery cell development, mechanical design, and system validation. He holds a Master of Science degree in Human Factors Engineering from the Technical University of Munich, where he combined mechanical engineering expertise with user‑centered and system‑level analysis. Over the course of more than seven years in automotive development, he has worked in both series development and pre‑development environments, contributing to projects ranging from full vehicle packaging and homologation to advanced battery cell technologies.Since joining BMW Group, Philipp Hartl has been working as a specialist in lithium‑ion round cell mechanical design, supporting the development of next‑generation battery cells and ensuring compliance with demanding technical and quality requirements. His work includes the development and validation of mechanical cell components, coordination of CAD and drawing activities, and the use of state‑of‑the‑art connected engineering and simulation workflows. In this role, he acts as a technical interface between design, validation, and series development.

Marc Hehner is an expert in the field of aeroacoustics and fluid mechanics. He eamed his doctoral degree from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, in 2022, where his research focused on the topic of turbulent flow control with plasma actuators. His professional skill set encompasses both testing and Simulation for aeroacoustics, particularly wind-tunnel and test-track testing. These skills are pivotal in his current role at Daimler Truck AG, where he joined in September 2023. In his responsible position, Marc Hehner is tasked with the aeroacoustics testing and simulation for the entire vehicle fleet. His work is instrumental in making vehicles quieter by effectiveiy reducing wind noise and optimizing the exterior design of the cab. Through his innovative approaches and dedication to excellence, he continues to contribute significantly to the advancement of quieter, more efficient commercial vehicles.

Dr. Walter Hinterberger studied Technical Mathematics at Johannes Kepler University Linz (Austria). After completing his military service, he earned his PhD in 2003 at the Leopold Franzens University of Innsbruck, specializing in nonlinear differential equations and the calculus of variations.
He is currently a Team Leader for Dynamics and Acoustics at Magna Powertrain (Engineering Center Steyr GmbH & Co KG) in the Department of Structural Mechanics. In this role, he leads a five-person calculation and development team and brings more than 20 years of experience in the field. His key responsibilities include the management of engineering calculation services related to NVH and fatigue evaluation of truck cabins, vehicle bodies, and electric drive systems.
Several years ago, he began working on the mechanical reliability of printed circuit board assemblies using finite element methods. Among other contributions, he and his team developed a method for the virtual assessment of vibration fatigue in solder joints under both deterministic and stochastic loading conditions.
In addition to his industrial role, he serves as a part-time lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, where he teaches engineering mechanics, including statics, dynamics, and fatigue strength.

Michael Hirler is a Ph.D. candidate in Physics at the Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich, currently conducting research within the group of Prof. Andreas Tittl. His doctoral work focuses on the field of nanophotonics, where he specializes in the design, fabrication, and characterization of high-Q resonant optical metasurfaces based on bound states in the continuum. He uses CST to numerically study the optical behavior of periodic metasurfaces, primarily employing the frequency-domain and eigenmode solvers.

Tim Isselstein completed an apprenticeship as a bicycle mechatronics technician, where he gained practical experience in mechanics, diagnostics, and system integration. Following this, he pursued a Bachelor’s degree in General Mechanical Engineering at Trier University of Applied Sciences, building a strong foundation in engineering principles and analytical methods.
During his undergraduate studies, he worked as a student research assistant in the project “xFK-in 3D,” which focused on 3D filament winding processes using flax and basalt fibers. In this context, he was first introduced to fiberreinforced composites. This experience sparked his interest in lightweight structures and composite materials. Consequently, his Bachelor’s thesis focused on composite engineering within the NatureFibreBike project, emphasizing the development and application of sustainable fiber-reinforced structures.
Since October 2025, Tim Isselstein has been enrolled in the Master’s program in Interdisciplinary Engineering at Trier University of Applied Sciences, further deepening his expertise in advanced engineering topics. In parallel, he has taken on the role of team leader of Team proTRon, where he coordinates the development of an energy-efficient vehicle for the Shell Eco-marathon.

The author is a Senior Simulation Engineer at Aptiv with 14 years of experience in advanced analysis of automotive electrical systems. His expertise covers electrical, thermal, and electro-thermal simulations of LV and HV wiring harnesses, power distribution units, electronic control modules, and a wide range of automotive connectors, with a particular focus on high voltage charging interfaces. He is also involved in optical simulations related to light propagation and scattering (T.A.L.C. expertise).

Dr. Valentin Keppler received his doctorate in 2003 from the Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics at the University of Tübingen, specializing in biomechanical modeling and simulation. After several years as a postdoctoral researcher, he founded Biomotion Solutions, a company that develops biomechanical human models and extension modules for multibody simulations, such as those using SIMULIA Simpack.
In addition to his role as Managing Director of Biomotion Solutions, Dr. Keppler held positions at companies such as SynOpt GmbH and Cenit AG.
He has been working as Head of Engineering Simulation at CCS-Service GmbH since October 2025.

Martin Kopřiva studied Automotive Engineering with a focus on engines at Brno University of Technology. He began his professional career at Honeywell, where he tested turbochargers and further developed his passion for high‑performance engines and fast cars.
In 2011, after nearly three years at Honeywell, he joined MANN+HUMMEL as an Acoustic Engineer, supported by a fully international development program. Over time, Martin was promoted to Simulation & Acoustics Team Leader, a role in which he has been continuously expanding his expertise and leadership experience for more than 12 years.
During his career, he has specialized in fluid dynamics simulations using STAR‑CCM+ across the full MANN+HUMMEL product portfolio, including air induction systems, oil modules, and fuel modules. In addition, he is an active member of the digitalization team, focusing on the implementation of the digital thread in simulation work flow.
Beyond his professional career, Martin is married and the proud father of two children. When not working or building his house, he enjoys traveling through nature, either on foot or by bike.

Dr.-Ing. Johannes Kremheller is a simulation engineer in BMW Group’s powertrain development department, specializing in virtual validation of electric engines. He develops and applies FEM-based fatigue simulations and multibody simulations to assess durability as well as system behavior and supports the industrialization of complex simulation workflows. A key focus is integrating BMW internal engineering processes and toolchains into the 3DX platform, enabling consistent data, traceability, and efficient collaboration across interdisciplinary teams. He holds a PhD and an M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Munich.

M.Sc. Juha Lilja graduated from Tampere University of Technology, Finland, in 2009 majoring in High Frequency Electronics and electromagnetics. He worked in the university, from where he moved to Finnish defense contractor, where he designed antennas for military systems and also one of the first industrial textile antennas for the European Space Agency (ESA). He has published multiple peer-reviewed articles, and in 2013 Mr. Lilja moved to Nokia (later Microsoft) where he acted as Antenna Chief in several mobile phone projects. Since 2017 he has been working full-time in StealthCase, developing novel laser-fabricated antenna solutions for the glass industry. He has written tens of patents and patent applications, and has about 2 decades of experience of using CST Microwave Studio.

Rajeev MALHOTRA is an electronics hardware expert specializing in the field of EMC and RF hardware design. He has over 25 years of experience in various industries like Aerospace, Satellite and Mobile phone design and currently working at Diehl Aerospace as a Hardware Engineer. Mr. Malhotra received his Master’s degree in Telecommunication Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Jai Narain Vyas University, Jodhpur. Franziska Masuch studied physics in Heidelberg, where she specified in medical physics and graduated with her Master’s thesis on “Evaluation of Global and Local SAR Limits for Multi-channel RF Systems in UHF MR Imaging” in 2025. Currently, she is researching as a PhD student at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg on radio frequency safety in ultra-high field magnetic resonance imaging.

Yukinobu Masuda is a product engineer at Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd., with approximately eight years of experience in passive electronic components. His primary areas of expertise include inductors, magnetics, EMI filters, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). In his role, he is engaged in product development and technical evaluation, with a focus on understanding electromagnetic behavior under realistic operating conditions.
A central part of his work involves the application of electromagnetic simulation to support product design and validation. He has worked on improving simulation approaches for wire-wound inductors, addressing challenges such as complex winding geometries, magnetic material nonlinearities, and frequency-dependent characteristics. These efforts aim to reduce discrepancies between simulated and measured results and to enhance the reliability of virtual prototyping.
He is also involved in a collaborative partnership between Murata Manufacturing and Dassault Systèmes, through which Murata provides realistic inductor models for SIMULIA solutions. This collaboration focuses on delivering application-ready 3D models that more accurately represent real component structures and electromagnetic behavior.
Yukinobu Masuda is particularly interested in the advancement of EMC simulation using realistic 3D component models and in supporting simulation-driven optimization at early design stages.

Gwenael NEVEU has built his expertise within the Engineering Office in Methods and Tools since 2007. He has supported both Airbus Commercial and Airbus Helicopters in deploying solutions focused on parametric modeling within the Dassault Systèmes ecosystem, as well as Systems Engineering / Model Based System Engineering methods, to support the simulation community. Since 2019, he has dedicated himself to the digital transformation of simulation through Simulation Process & Data Management (SPDM). Florian Nießl was born in 2000 in Munich, Germany. After completing his Abitur, he studied at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), where he graduated in 2024.
Since then, he has been working as a research associate at the Center for Geotechnics at TUM. His research focuses on advanced geotechnical engineering solutions, with a particular emphasis on innovative and sustainable approaches.

Florian has been working for Framatome GmbH since 2009, at that time operating under the name AREVA. He is an expert and advisor in the field of numerical fracture mechanics, with responsibility for the execution and assessment of advanced fracture mechanics analyses. His core technical focus is on the ductile-to-brittle transition regime of reactor pressure vessel steels, as well as on broader topics of structural integrity and general fracture mechanics relevant to safety-critical nuclear components.Within customer-oriented projects, Florian supports national and international clients by providing technically sound assessments for integrity evaluations and safety demonstrations. In parallel to his industrial activities, he has been deeply involved in international research programs, contributing both as a technical expert and as a coordinating work package leader. His participation includes several major collaborative projects such as STYLE, NESC, ATLAS, CAMERA, and FRACTESUS, where he contributed to the advancement and validation of numerical methods and fracture assessment procedures.Results of this work have been disseminated within the international scientific community and presented at conferences, including the ASME Pressure Vessels and Piping Conference, the European Conference on Fracture, and IAEA PLiM meetings.

Rainer Ohlms is a highly experienced CAE-Engineer with 15+ years of work experience in structural simulation. He first got in touch with FÉA durinq student projects at the RWTH-Aachen with scripting, biomechanics, composites, and during his diploma thesis. The ratter involving the creation of a Submodel-strategy for car spaceframe investigations. In 2003, he started with Abaqus in the automotive industry, being responsible for durability- and overload investigations of side doors and lift-/tailgates. Apart from static nonlinear FEA, this also involved dynamic slam and spot-weld/sheet metal fauque analysis. In becoming an expert for full body fatigue. at that time he employed Abaqus mostly as a Solver. From Abaqus/CAE only the Visualization module existed With some basic functionality. During his 7 years working in special machinery he was responsible for simulating hiqh pressure hydraulic applications. for instance screw tensioners and material testing equipment. For the FEA he used Abaqus/CAE and other tools.
Since April 2023, he is CAE-Consultant for Bechtle-PLM, being specialized in high-end structural simulation with Abaqus. His work spans all kinds of structural FEA from simple to really challenging!

Johannes Pfeiffer studied engineering at the Technical Universities of Berlin and Istanbul and a has a strong international background and extensive experience in airbag development and application engineering.
He currently works at Joyson Safety Systems as Technical Lead Engineer Cushion Engineering, a position in which he is responsible for ensuring production ready application and oversees product development related to the airbag cushion component. He plays an active role in the further development of development processes and engineering standards within cushion development and focuses on strengthening cross functional collaboration and design for manufacturing.
Prior to assuming his current position, he served as a Program Manager for airbag application projects with major OEM customers, and as Development Engineer in the global pre-development department for more than ten years, where he contributed to innovative airbag concepts and early-phase product development on a global level.
Before transitioning to the field of occupants restraints, he has been working for almost 2 years at SFE GmbH, where he already gained experience in the ModSim approach and also completed his Diploma Thesis “Parametric-associative links between SFE CONCEPT and CATIA”.

Vishakh is a research engineer currently based in Austria. He holds a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Technical University of Munich, Germany and Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore (Joint degree). Early in his career, he worked at Dassault Systèmes as a Technical Customer Support Specialist, providing support to clients in the United States and the United Kingdom (between 2018 until 2024).
He brings over eight years of experience as an FEA engineer, combining both industrial and research expertise. His academic and professional journey includes research internships and secondment assignments at the National Aerospace Laboratories in India and School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, NTU, Singapore.
Vishakh is currently working as a Researcher at PCCL while pursuing his PhD in close collaboration with TU Leoben. His doctoral research is supported by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG). The Polymer Competence Center Leoben (PCCL) has been a leading institution in collaborative research in polymer technology and polymer science in Austria for over two decades, working closely with TU Leoben, TU Graz, and TU Vienna. Raphael Säckl has been working as an Analysis Engineer at TECHNIA’s Austrian office since April 2026. His professional background is in mechanical engineering, with a particular focus on simulation-driven product development, numerical analysis methods and computer-aided design. In October 2025, he completed his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering – Management at TU Wien. He is currently continuing his academic education in the Master’s programme at TU Wien, focusing in particular on CFD and FEM simulations.
In his current role, Raphael Säckl works on the design and simulation of various technical components. His main focus lies on fluid-dynamic problems as well as the analysis and optimization of component geometries using modern simulation methods. Through his studies, he has gained a solid theoretical understanding of the Finite Element Method and Computational Fluid Dynamics. This knowledge provides the foundation for evaluating complex technical relationships and applying simulation-based engineering workflows in a targeted manner.
In addition to his academic background, Raphael Säckl brings practical experience from his involvement in Formula Student. There, he worked on technical tasks in an application-oriented environment and gained valuable insights into the development, design and optimization of vehicle components. As part of these activities, he further expanded his experience with digital engineering platforms, particularly the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Stefanie Schatt graduated in physics 1997 from the University of Bayreuth and started her career in semiconductor development, followed by several years as senior field application engineer in the EDA industry, supporting international semiconductor companies worldwide.
2005 she joined Siemens VDO, later Continental, as field application engineer for automotive sensors, in 2011, she changed into the EMC simulation group, since that time she is dedicated to EMC simulations and high-speed design simulation for automotive designs.
In 2018 she became "Expert for High-Speed Design Simulation", in 2021 "Senior expert for EMC modeling & simulation" and team leader of the simulation group. Since 2025 she is "Head of Electrical Simulation and Verification worldwide".

Harsha’s journey with Henkel Consumer Brands in Düsseldorf began as an intern in 2017, leading to a full-time role in 2018. Over the past seven years in the packaging industry, he has navigated diverse positions, from Design to Value to serving as a Packaging Engineer for major retail hair color brands. In 2023, he transitioned into his current role as Manager of Predictive Modeling, a position that perfectly aligns with his technical passions. In this capacity, he drives strategic initiatives to integrate virtual testing into the global packaging development lifecycle, actively developing models to evaluate early concepts and engineer late-stage rigid plastics for mass production.

Thomas Thiel is a 49-year-old Senior Sales Consultant who lives in Munich, Germany.
He studied civil engineering in Regensburg with the focus of structural engineering. Afterwards he did a Master of Science at the University of Glasgow in Structural Engineering and Mechanics.
He gained his first work experience in an engineering office in Munich where he did the statics for buildings. His responsibility was the analysis of steel and reinforced concrete constructions and the verification of the construction drawings in collaboration with the architectural offices. His next place of employment was a testing institute for building physics in Rosenheim. He made real testing procedures and Finite Element Analysis for building components for the CE-Certification and created the test reports for the customers.
Since 2012 he has been working for Bechtle PLM as Sales Consultant. He is specialist in Structural and Fluid Mechanics and gained expert knowledge over the simulation product portfolio of Dassault Systèmes. He closely works with the sales consultants and supports them with presentations about the simulation production portfolio in the sales process.
He is passionate in his work when supporting customers in their daily work with simulation products or the elaboration of proofs of concepts in sales projects, to find the best solution for the customer. For existing customers, he does standard and individual training for most of the simulation products.

Antoine (van Peer) earned his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering in the Netherlands in 1992. During his career in the Netherlands, he specialized in RF technology, particularly electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and developed instrumentation for EMC measurements. He is the co-inventor and patent holder of the laser-powered RadiSense wideband E-field sensor.
In 2019, he joined Hirschmann Automotive GmbH as a High-Frequency Expert, where he has been working on Automotive Ethernet connector systems and the EMC behavior of high-voltage (HV) connector systems. He has built a strong foundation in RF theory and its practical application, with particular focus on high-frequency systems, antenna design, and RF passive components operating up to 77 GHz. Over the past several years, he has specialized in semiconductor-domain RF/Analog IC designs, developing predictive methodologies across multiple abstraction levels, including IC, package, and system integration.
Suresh possesses extensive hands-on experience with industry-standard 3D and 2.5D EM simulation tools such as CST, HFSS, ADS, and AWR, along with circuit simulation environments like Cadence Spectre. His work spans the entire product development chain—from chip-level analysis to PCB and enclosure-level behavior—enabling efficient problem-solving across varying complexity levels. He has also contributed significantly to EMC design and root-cause analysis, particularly in early-stage development, ensuring robust system performance.
He began his career at the Indian Space Research Centre as an RF and antenna design engineer, followed by a long tenure at Bosch where he served as an EMC simulation technical team lead. Currently, he is working as an RF/Analog IC design engineer at ams-OSRAM. For three years, Steve led a project team for the design, development and implementation of A-frame automated order dispensers for pharmaceutical warehouses.
Joining the SIMPACK Company in 2000, Steve started as technical sales support and later became the global Director/Head of Sales and Marketing, 2007-2016. Concurrently Steve was also the Director of Wind Energy Solutions, 2009-2016.
Following the acquisition of the SIMPACK AG by Dassault Systèmes, in 2014, Steve has continued his work expanding Dassault Sytèmes’s footprint within the wind energy sector and supporting users as the SIMULIA Multibody Systems and Wind Energy Director.
Steve began working with commercial customers in the wind energy sector in 2003 and has served as the product manager for the Simpack Wind solutions since their inception.
