Choices to Reduce Environmental Impact
Environmental Responsibility
The events industry is undergoing rapid transformation, and 3DS has engaged with its Farnborough suppliers to ensure our environmental footprint was reduced as much as possible.
Chalet Builder Commitments
- Cook + Associates are proud to be signatories of the Net Zero Carbon Events initiative, as we strive to take more steps towards a more sustainable events industry
- Our chalet design is built around a biophilic approach, connecting our customers to the theme of sustainability by creating harmony between modern architecture and the natural world using verdure, exposed natural woods, re-usable materials, and plush fabric furnishings
Chalet Sustainable Material Choices
- By utilizing the same chalet builders from 2022, we were able to reuse materials wherever possible
- FSC Certified Timber slats: the most sustainable construction material with no added chemicals, resins, or glues. Sourced from FSC-certified forests, which are managed to strict environmental, social, and economic standards.
- Sustainable printed artwork is printed directly onto uncoated PVC-free vinyl using an LED curing process that uses 70% less electricity compared to a standard UV printer, providing the same high-quality print you’d expect but with 30% less material used to increase shelf life and eventual biodegradability - Completely reusable and ready to be re-configured
- Ecocarpet: is made with ECONYL® regenerated nylon, a yarn made from recycled waste material such as old carpets and abandoned fishing nets collected from the bottom of the sea. Sedna® thus helps to save thousands of beautiful sea creatures like sea turtles, dolphins and seals that will no longer get stuck in this life-threatening waste.
- No cut flowers will be used, only plants or succulents which can be reused
Food & Beverage
- We’ve opted for a Vegan menu featuring local produces to reduce food carbon footprint
- Highlighting on menus how much CO2 was saved by those choices to inform customers
0% Waste to Landfill
- Food waste will be minimized by ensuring our caterer has partners to help achieve 0% landfill
- Cooking Oil is turned into biodiesel with Olleco
- Food waste is converted into bio-fertilizer and energy with Full Circle Farms
- Unprepared food will be given to food charities via City Harvest and Felix project
- One Feeds Two is our charity partner
Carbon Calculation
Tracking the Carbon Footprint
We will create a report on the carbon impact of our chalet so we can make more sustainable event planning decisions going forward.
